I finally launched my website today. It took longer than expected just because my son and I were sick for about 3 weeks during the time I was working on it. It’s very simple and kind of plain right now. I just spent most of the time working on the structure and presentation.
My work is very affordable and clean and all of the code is hand-written. I did not use any design programs. The graphics were designed by me as well (except for in the portfolio. Some of the graphics may be client’s).
Here it is!
It’s a process

I have been doing more work lately, making more mock sites and actually designing a few live ones. I’m not getting paid for anything yet as I am waiting until my site is up and running so that all of the info for clients will be up there. I’m also not doing anything for free either. Once it’s a go, I’m for hire.
Right now, I’m just creating templates to kind of show what I am capable of doing. Most of it has been fairly simple layouts and designs, but cute nonetheless. After all, I do enjoy classic and clean looks because clutter just makes it too busy and people will leave if your site gives them a headache or they can’t find anything.
I’ve been trying to get a ton of work done so I can catch up from when I was sick for the past two weeks. I wanted to have my site up and running already, but I’m now shooting for 2 weeks.
I need money BAD. I really don’t even want to complain about it anymore because I’m tired of it. And I’m sure you’re tired of it. So I won’t.
I’ll just say that Mike has had no work for two weeks now and the kids won’t have anything for Christmas. Hell, we’ll do good to pay bills this month.
So, I’m really trying to push to launch my site and to get stuff done. I hope that it is as successful as I’d like for it to be.
Soar back to 2000 when things were completely different. Internet wasn’t nearly as advanced as it is now. Myspace didn’t exist. Hell, we barely had well known sites for well known companies or people.
Paint Shop Pro was the program to have, not Photoshop. People were just starting to own their own computers since they were no longer unaffordable. I remember my ex having one when I was in high school and his parents had paid over $3000 for it. And trust me, it wasn’t all that!
I used our newly built library at college to do all of my Information Superhighway excursions. We had a bunch of computers – Dell to be exact – and they were niiiiiice. It was there that I designed my first website. I really don’t remember how I came across geocities, but I did. I pestered people for their knowledge on how I could improve on my site and so I learned. I did this for a while until I was able to make decent websites.
Two of which, are still up and running. Too bad I don’t remember the passwords.
