diaper dilemma

I am having a diaper dilemma.

Ever since White Cloud (Walmart brand, for those of you unfamiliar) decided to discontinue their brand a couple of weeks ago, I have had nothing but bad luck.

I researched online to see what diapers are comparable and discovered that a cheapy brand from Sam’s Club is made by the same people. Welllll, if you know me, you know I live in a very small town. We barely have a Target. So, no Sam’s Club.

Next.

I know Parent’s Choice (the shitty brand at Walmart) sucks royally since I tried them when Aidan was first born. They leaked everywhere. The next cheapest brand they carry is Luvs. So that’s what I got. I grabbed a box and made my merry way home. When I pulled one out for the first time, I was astonished at how thin they are in comparison to the White Cloud ones. This can’t be good. The first night he slept in them, he leaked all over the place. And the second night, too.

So Monday I went to Target to get some of their brand. I had also read that they are comparable to White Cloud. Of course, when I get there, the shelf was empty in size 4 packs and boxes. SIGH

The next day I called to see if  they had gotten any in and she told me no because they are discontuing them because they are redesigning the box. She said it will be a while.

SIGH SIGH SIGH

(I want to pitch a fit at this point)

So back at Walmart we decided to get something more expensive for overnight at least. We chose Pampers. Not a lot more expensive, but more.

Guess what??

They leaked.

I am really tired of my son waking up in a pool of piss. And washing the sheets everyday. And wiping him off with a wipe every morning while he stands there getting goosebumps all over him.

What do you guys recommend for boys until Target is done designing their box??

Play Wonder toys

Ever since our visit with Sorayah, Sadie and Emmaline I have been obsessed with Play Wonder toys. I want to buy Aidan all of the ones where you can pretend to be slicing them. Sadie had a pizza that Aidan loved and so I had planned to buy it for him, but our Target doesn’t carry it.

I just got on eBay to see if anyone was selling one and they are, but they are asking more for it than Target charges. Whatever!! It’s still available in stores. I then went to target.com and did a search to see which Targets in my area are carrying it and the one closest to where I work (in Knoxville) supposedly has them. It’s a Super Target, so I’m sure they won’t let me down. :)

When I go in to work, I plan to stop and get one for him. He will be so excited!

Aidan’s surgery.

We got back home a short while ago from Aidan’s surgery in Knoxville. It went very well and I am pleased with how it looks now.

We spent the night at my mother’s house and got up at 6am so we could be at the hospital by 6:30. We arrived and things went quicker than they did last time. We had him up in his room in about 10 minutes. we waited around up there for about an hour. They gave him his happy juice and I took some pictures – and a video. He was giggling and behving in a drunken manner and it was all too cute.

We wheeled him upstairs before his surgery and waited for about 45 minutes or so until his doctor came and spoke with us. He told us how it went and what kind of care to do afterwards. We felt confident after this.

We had to wait for him to keep down some apple juice before leaving. Mike and I switched out on holding him. He woke once and was very fussy and his nurse gave him his medicine. He was fine within minutes. He finally woke up and was in a relatively good mood considering and he drank his juice. We left shortly afterwards and headed home.

By the time we got home, it was a little past time for his medicine, but we had to get his prescription filled first. She said it would be about 45 minutes. Oh no!

About 15-20 minutes later, Aidan was fussing and screaming in the middle of Walmart and people were approaching us and asking if he was OK. Most thought he was just tired. I think he just didn’t want to be around a bunch of people in a brightly lit facility. We went back to the pharmacy and asked if she could put a rush on his medicine and she got it right then. I was SOOO thankful! We gave him his medicine before leaving.

10 minutes or so after we got home, he was out again. He has now been out for about 1.5 hours.

While at walmart, I changed his diaper and saw the stitches for the first time. Aside from the swelling and bruising, it looks awesome and put together well. The doctor thinks this will be it.

I sure hope so.

Besides this eventful day, my mother had a surprise for us. She had bought me the dried grass vase from the Jennifer Farrell collection at Big Lots!!!! And it looks great with my tropical leaves in it! I’ll post pics, of course. She also gave me a book on coastal living and a jacket, all for my early b-day gift. She got Mike a card and was going to get him a magazine for his b-day, but they didn’t have the one he spyed at her house. Aidan was spoiled with some new clothes, too!!

Thanks Ganny! <3
